Plot
When an aid worker Riley (Rosemary Yaneva) vanishes in the first hours of war in Ukraine, a former Navy SEAL and CIA operative Connor (LaMonica Garrett) crosses into the shattered country to bring her home - facing mercenaries, shifting battle lines, and ghosts he thought he left behind.
The story's primary antagonist, a ruthless military mercenary named Koniev, is portrayed by Daniel Bernhardt, best known for his roles in Bloodsport II, The Matrix Reloaded, and John Wick.
This project marks the first feature-film leading role for LaMonica Garrett, who has built a stellar Hollywood reputation with standout performances in hit series like Special Ops: Lioness, 1883, and Designated Survivor.
Andrew Howard takes on a major supporting role as a Ukrainian named Dany. Audiences will recognize Howard from the thriller Limitless (2011, starring Bradley Cooper), hit series like The Blacklist and DC's Watchmen, as well as Christopher Nolan's upcoming film The Odyssey, where his role is currently being kept under wraps.
Rounding out the core local cast are Antoni Davidov(The Expendables 4) as Laggs, Boyan Anev (Black Widow, Assassin's Creed) as Flo, Maria-Radena Bozhkova (Nina Roza, Fracture) as Isabel, Joseph Al-Ahmad (Above The Clouds, Man with No Past) as Sergeant Zinchenko, Karina Karnauh (Blurred) as Ana, and Anton Poriazov (Undercover, Young Woman and the Sea) as a Ukrainian tactical group commander.
Given the high caliber of talent both in front of and behind the camera, Kaufman’s proven track record in the action genre, and the timely subject matter, the film holds immense promise. Man of War has all the makings of a cult favorite, delivering a high-octane action experience described as a cross between Rambo and Taken.
